I Remember
So i missed posting this on 9-11 by a couple hours but i remember what i was doing that day in 2001. i was at school 1st period seminary our teacher brother pond i believe got called out of the room and joseph ford's phone rang and he answered it and it was his mom Lynn and she told him that a plane had hit the world trade center building he told the whole class but honestly that name didn't mean a thing to me and probably most of the class too now its a name none of us will forget. so we finished class and i went to 3rd period ballroom dance the TV was on and our teacher whose name escapes me never did turn it off we would take turns learning our dance the boys and then the girls watched the TV but we all just stood there and watched as the second plane hit and the towers fell. it was all we could do we were all in shock no one knew how to process this unbelievable news, our brains refused to except the images our eyes were receiving. after this im not sure if it was lunch or computers but at lunch it was so quiet but so loud at the same time people couldn't stop talking but from school we were always able to see and hear airplanes coming and going and it was so still outside like the world was holding its breath and eerie like we were being watched and trying to act normal at the same time. in computers brad told me he may have to fly out there to New York and help because he was in something like the national guard but he didn't end up going because they found out he wasn't 18. we didn't do anything in computers just watched the TV and i cried it wasn't just in New York to people i didn't know it was affecting people i care about and then the reports started talking about the deaths and the pentagon and the other plane that took its terrorists down and crashed in a field. by time i got to 7th period debate i walked in and said "i don't know about anyone else but if i don't actually do some work and the TV doesn't get turned off im just going to walk home and my teacher immediately turned the TV off we did actual work and didn't talk about it at all im not quite sure why Flanagan did that but no one else said anything i just couldn't keep focusing on tragedy anymore it was horrible but what was i suppose to do about it i am thousands of miles away no planes but military were taking off i didn't have a job or money to send and i couldn't keep crying and i was just plain angry by that point angry at people who believe that killing hundreds of people including themselves promotes their beliefs and agendas. i think i had a phone at that time and my mom called to make sure i was alright i also had to make sure to pick up all of my siblings and keep us all together and safe. i still feel for all those affected by this insanity and hope that after 10 well 11 years now that they are doing good and are happy and i know that just because they are it doesn't mean they've forgotten it means they're not burdened with hatred and anger and sadness that will perpetuate insane degrees of violence. i hope that our world can figure this out and realize fighting fires with more fire only gets more fire and innocent people get burned. love to all ttyl, KAR.
